Paradise Lake Association
Erects Eagle Platform on
Stony Point Preserve

Located on the southeastern shore of Paradise Lake, the Stony Point Nature Preserve once had mature trees that were ideal for roosting and nesting eagles. Although the property was logged before it became a nature preserve in February of 2000, members of the Paradise Lake Association wanted to continue to provide a nest site for the eagles that fish Paradise Lake.

On February 12, 2001, the Paradise Lake Association, with the help of professional tree climbers from View Tree Service, erected an eagle platform atop one of the few remaining trees capable of supporting the weight of an eagle’s nest. Dan Westfall of Carp Lake, who constructed the platform, and several other organizers from the association were at the preserve to assist with the placement of the eagle platform.

Everyone is hopeful that the platform will be used by eagles in the years to come. However, the project is already a success since it is a testament to the power of concerned citizens who work together to make the co-existence of wildlife and humans a reality.
