Watchdog Group Gives LTC High Ratings

Since 1972, the Little Traverse Conservancy has grown to become a leader in Michigan’s conservation movement as well as in the Midwest. With more than 4,200 members, the organization has grown to become the largest member-supported private non-profit in northern Michigan. “People are passionate about the mission of protecting land,” said the Conservancy’s associate director, Tom Lagerstrom. “And we have long been blessed with an incredibly talented board that oversees our operations and ensures that our funds are spent in the best interest of our mission and our donors.”

Lagerstrom added that the Conservancy is especially proud of this rating in a time when donors are becoming more discriminating about the charities they choose to support. “Donors do and should expect accountability from the organizations that they support,” he added.

Last year for every membership dollar donated, $8 worth of land was protected. The Conservancy protected a total of 2,523 acres bringing their total acreage protected to 26,300 which includes more than 75 miles of lake, river, and stream shoreline.
